Communications and Social Media Specialist
The Communications Specialist position is a part-time position that provides communications and social media assistance to ensure the effective operation of the organization. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to help plan and executive our communication and social media plans.

Under the supervision of the Senior Creative Operations Manager, you will be responsible for bringing visibility to Lake Street businesses through our social media platforms, e-newsletter, and website. You will also provide communication and marketing support for the Lake Street Council's programs and events.

This individual should possess exceptional attention to detail and creative thinking. This position is well suited for an individual interested in gaining experience in nonprofit communications and/or marketing.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Develop creative content and disseminate targeted communications through a variety of channels.
  • Manage multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube)
  • Track and analyze marketing and communications performance.
  • Maintain multiple electronic mailing lists.
  • Manage website via a content management system.
  • Provide support for marketing initiatives, including events, programs, and campaigns.


  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. A broad range of familiarity with communications tools such as website content management systems, social media, Google Docs, Dropbox, Adobe Creative Suite, and MailChimp.
  • Basic understanding of photography.
  • Ability to interact successfully with a variety of racially, ethnically, and economically diverse constituents.
  • Experience with small businesses and/or nonprofits.
  • Familiarity with Lake Street.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to receive and understand direction, ask questions when appropriate, and manage time to work effectively and independently.

Commitment: 10 to 15 hours/week, primarily weekday/daytime hours
Status: Part-time employee
Compensation: $15/hour
Position reports to: Senior Creative Operations Manager
