Our goal is to uplift the Lake Street corridor by mobilizing the unique assets of artists and community members.
Explore Lake Street’s Art
Lake Street has a tremendous amount of diversity – this corridor has been home to hundreds of immigrant businesses for more than a century. Public art, like murals and sculptures, helps us celebrate that rich history. They also help businesses express their individuality and share their culture in a unique and creative way.
The Lake Street Council’s Placemaking and Activation program works to bring healing, beautification, and economic rehabilitation. Our goal is to uplift the Lake Street corridor by mobilizing the unique assets of artists and community members.
We believe that placemaking projects create a sense of belonging and strong ties to a place that encourages economic activity for the many small businesses along the Lake Street corridor.
In 2021, the Lake Street Council created the Placemaking and Vibrancy Grant program that helps fund murals and community events along the corridor.
We are grateful to further enrich the vibrant fabric of the corridor with additional murals and public art installations. We invite you to explore with us the beauty that Lake Street has to offer!
